Anyone interested in volunteering is required to complete our 3-day Outreach and At-risk Certification with Yoga Gangsters’ founder, Terri Cooper. Once completed, graduates are eligible for our level 2 training, YG2: Yoga in the Hood.

I am interested in volunteering. Are these certification classes above the ones I would need to take or is there a separate volunteer class? I think you are on to something GREAT bringing yoga to this population. As a social work student and beginning yoga enthusiast, I truly see both the need and the probability for results. Good work!
Hi Molly, our 3 day Outreach Intensive is the only course we require for one to volunteer with Yoga Gangsters. I guarantee that this will be an amazing experience to complement your education in Social Work. We are excited to connect with more individuals in the public health, social work, and psychology fields in order to bring more yoga to the populations most in need. Hope to see you in February!

Do you need certified yoga instructors as well? I am completing my certification in June and would love to get involved with your program in any capacity. Due to scheduling conflicts, I can not attend the Feb workshops, however I can’t wait to get in on the next ones.
Hi Shelah! We will be repeating the workshop later this year, exact time TBA. Our volunteers are not required to be RYTs as we always team up our teachers making sure to include at least one RYT to serve as the lead teacher while others can assist.

This is awesome and can’t wait to get involved when I make my way back to the States. Im a certified yoga instructor currently living in Cozumel Mexico with plans on returning to the Tampa area next summer 2013. Please keep us posted on the certifcation courses for next year!
