South Florida’s Yoga Aid World Challenge Expects Over 500 Supporters
Event to Benefit Yoga Gangsters
501c3 non-profit with yoga programs for at-risk youth in inner city areas
Miami, Florida- July 30, 2012 – Over 500 yoga practitioners and community supporters are expected at South Florida ‘s Yoga Aid World Challenge set for Sunday, September 9th, 2012 at the 7th level of the 1111 Lincoln Road Parking Complex, Miami Beach. Doors open at 9am; Yoga begins at 10:30am.
The fundraising event will consist of a 2-hour yoga practice of 108 Sun Salutations to benefit Yoga Gangsters, a South Florida non-profit organization that serves the community by providing free weekly yoga classes to at-risk youth in inner city schools, hospitals, rehab centers, foster neighborhoods, jails and through other non-profits.
Last year, the event attracted more than 500 participants who raised more than $40,000 for Yoga Gangsters, enabling the organization to reach approximately 1,200 underserved kids, teens & young adults throughout South Florida in less than 8 months. This year, Yoga Gangsters intends to further engage the community in social awareness in order to reach a fundraising goal of over $60,000.
In order to motivate participants, Yoga Gangsters has secured various prizes from sponsors including a Grand Prize Package which includes a 7-day, 6-night stay for 2 at the Blue Osa Yoga Sanctuary & Spa in Costa Rica plus hiking tours, spa services and more valued at $3,100. The 2nd place fundraiser will receive 2 complimentary rooms for 7 days at the Elite Island Resorts in Morgan Bay, St. Lucia. The 3rd overall fundraiser will receive 2 complimentary passes to the Caribbean Yoga Conference in Montego Bay, Jamaica valued at $790. The top 4th-8th individual fundraisers will each receive a 5-Session Package of Crystal Sonic Healing™, live vibration sound healings designed to clear the body and mind from 1111 Vibes. In addition to the actual yoga practice, attendees may shop close to 50 food, apparel, jewelry, yoga, and holistic vendors. There will also several raffle prizes and silent auctions, including two 1-week Caribbean vacations to Antigua from Elite Island Resorts, an authentic “Lebron James” autographed Miami Heat NBA Swingman Jersey, a 7-day cleanse with Dr. Etti’s Sexy Juicing and many more. Those interested in participating in the Challenge can register as an individual or as a team by creating their own online fundraising page at www.YogaAid.com/USA. Participants who raise $108 or more will earn FREE ADMISSION. Others may also opt for the drop-in rate of $25. Kids 12 and under are free, but must stay with parents. Registration begins at 9:00am on the 7th level of the 1111 Lincoln Road Parking Garage. The yoga practice begins at 10:30 am and lasts about 2 hours followed by time to shop the over 50 vendors booths. Event ends at 2:30pm.
