Terri Cooper is the founder of Yoga Gangsters, a teacher, writer, activist and movement builder for social change. In 2003, she began volunteering as a yoga teacher in some of Miami’s marginalized communities. The work and connection was so compelling that she constantly felt drawn to do more. In 2008, she expanded her service into a community outreach program and began to train other yoga teachers to serve in this way. In just a few short years, Yoga Gangsters has touched the lives of more than 3000 people (mostly youth in crisis), has more than 700 trained volunteers and has raised more than $220,000 through grassroots community events. Christina Hanabergh,RYT Programming Manager Christina@YogaGangsters.org
Christina Hanabergh has been practicing yoga since 2005. She used yoga as an escape from her full time career in Acute Care Medicine. In 2012, Christina began her journey, under the guidance of Terri Cooper, first as a Yoga Gangster, and in 2013, she completed her 200 hour yoga teacher training. Through her daily yoga practice she has been able to dive deep within herself, allowing surrender, abundance, love, peace, connection, and growth. Yoga Gangsters allows Christina the opportunity to share this gift of yoga with at-risk youth. Christina was always a very active volunteer, and as her career path shifted, so did her calling to service. Now as programming manager, her goal is to spread the Yoga Gangster Movement, impacting as many at-risk youth as possible!
